Reason to Celebrate

December 22, 2009

Last week the team took me to lunch to celebrate my birthday.

Birthday lunch with the team!

It was a great reason to get away from the office for a bit and visit about things other than 2010 planning and our holiday shopping checklists. It also helped me realize just how lucky we are to have a team that celebrates every milestone.

Whether it’s a birthday, a media hit, or signing a new client, MarketWave stays true to its recognition culture (one of our core values) by praising any and all accomplishments. This helps build unity among all the team members and really makes any achievement feel like a group effort.

While companies are finalizing their sales goals and making sure contracts are signed for the new year, be sure to take some time and evaluate your recognition culture. Do you make it a point to celebrate each success your company and its team members accomplish?

With 2010 just a few days away, we hope you find a reason to celebrate. Maybe you added customers this year or aligned with new partners to help you deliver more? Perhaps some stellar employees joined your team? Whatever the reason, be sure to take a moment and recognize all that you and your company have accomplished in 2009.

Best wishes for a very happy holiday and a great new year!

This was written so well. So many times we forget that our coworkers are like a family(team). We spend more time with coworkers than our own family. So time should be made to acknowledge accomplishments for each one. I think your work place has the right idea. Market Wave will go far for establishing these grounds for their employees. Great job…have a wonderful 2010!!
