United We Serve

September 7, 2012

As we approach the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, thousands of companies and individuals will be volunteering in service projects across the U.S. in remembrance of the horrific events and to honor the victims of September 11, 2001.

MarketWave, for its part, is gearing up for the annual Entrepreneurs For North Texas (EFNT) Freedom Day event. Every year since September 11, 2002, EFNT has hosted Freedom Day, a powerful day of community service that was developed to honor the lives lost and changed on September 11, 2001. Since Freedom Day’s inception, EFNT member companies have provided more than 20,000 hours of service to the community first responders at Dallas Fire-Rescue and to important nonprofits including Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, the Innercity Community Development Corporation, the African American Museum, Texas Trees Foundation, InnerCity Community Development Corporation, Innerfaith Housing Coalition, Park South Family YMCA, Juliette Fowler Homes, City Square, Camp Summit and Catholic Charities.  This year, more than 500 volunteers from EFNT member companies will join together and complete service projects across our community.

This is the fourth year MarketWave will be participating in Freedom Day and we will be giving a much needed makeover to a south Dallas middle school during our service day.

I can’t think of a better way to spend this day. Are you or your company participating in any 9/11 service projects this year?  If you are looking for ways to serve, please visit http://www.911day.org to find an opportunity in your area.
